Continuous Improvement

Combined, the self-assessments and resources provide a clear pathway toward adopting more sustainable practices. Regardless of the user’s self-assessment score for any given practice, they can see specifically what changes in their management practices will be necessary to achieve greater sustainability, along with resources enabling adoption of those practices.

To assist in continuous improvement, within each self-assessment question the user can make Action Plan Notes capturing ways to improve their sustainability in that specific area, which they can print as a comprehensive Action Plan Report at any time.

Annual self-assessment enables the grower/vintner/business manager to compare their assessment scores year-over-year, and compare their scores to industry averages for the same year. The Vinewise® self-assessment also includes questions that capture quantitative data for the assessed vineyard and year (e.g., water use, diesel use, nutrient use), enabling the grower to track these important metrics year-over-year and see how changes to them affect outcomes.

Vinewise®/Winerywise™ is also a network of growers, vintners, and business managers sharing best practices and resources to help one another improve. The Vinewise®/Winerywise™ Facebook page serves as a forum for growers, vintners, and other industry members to connect with each other, and share insights and resources supporting sustainability.
